Have you ever been in a situation where you struggle for ages to get some sort of DIY task done? You sweat and struggle an there’s probably some cursing happens too – c’ mon you know there is. Then along comes your BFF who just happens to have the right widget and they do in seconds what you failed to do in hours of wrestling.
The reason is either they have more experience than you – who could suggest such a thing, or of course, they have the right tools for the job. And when it comes down to it, when you have the right tools, the job is already half done.
Nowhere is this more relevant than when it comes to motorcycle apparel. Huh? Okay, let’s extend the analogy in a different direction. Assume for a second you have taken up the sport of skeleton. That’s the winter sport where someone lies down on the equivalent of two ice skate blades attached to a plank and then speeds head first down a frozen tube without any brakes. If you were about to do this, you’d put on a helmet, when you’re good enough you’d put on a body suit but when coach hands you a helmet you’d put it on. You wouldn’t argue.
Well, the same goes for motorcycling. It is a dangerous thing to do and yes it is them and not you. But nevertheless, because (other) people do stupid things you need to have the right tools for the job to protect yourself. In this case, it is a helmet and them some outer clothing which stands a chance of offering you some protection if the worst should happen.
They make this stuff not to look good, but because you need it. It doesn’t hurt that it does look good too.
